Thomas Edison once said “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration” . Although Edison himself being a genius, he attributed his success to hard work and persistence. He didn’t invent Light bulb simply because he was a genius , he actually failed many times doing so, before actually becoming successful . When he was asked about his failures and struggles during inventing light bulb he famously mentioned something in line of “I have not failed 10,000 times. Each failure has taught me something new.” Failure is like a pit stop on the journey to success; unless you fail, you won’t succeed. You should keep trying, as each attempt brings you closer to your goal.
You will often hear job seekers saying that Market is down, job calls are not coming these days or it’s hard to get a job. Stephen Covey in his “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” book has talked about following important habits of successful people.
Proactiveness: He talks about being responsible for our reactions to events and situations, rather than being reactive. This habit emphasizes the importance of controlling your response to stimuli.
Begin with the End in Mind: Before you start any work or start to learn first outline what you want to achieve or what is the expected outcome that you want to achieve.
Put First Things First: Try to take up the most important or difficult task first.
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Focus on active listening to genuinely understand other people.
Sharpen the Saw – Just like Saw need to be sharpened to be effective, one need focus on continuous growth and improvement to be successful.
